BREE Case Study: Sports Field Lighting
There are different lighting requirements for the football field: For training operation and point games at county level meet 75 lx illuminance (Level III). 200 lx are required for playing in district and national league (Level II), for association and league games it must be much brighter with 500 lx (Level I).
Below is one of our customer’s local football match lighting project,in Level II, 200lux. It squares with 6 masts, each masts with four LED sports light with a power consumption of 1000W.

If use metal halide light,here will need at least 24pcs 2000W.
And the Metral Halide lamp maintenance need to interval is 3 years, which means that all lights are renewed every 3 years. Defective lights are renewed immediately.CIE(WF=0.77).if the above-mentioned maintenance work is carried out correctly, a standard-compliant lighting is guaranteed.
In reality,it is often the case that the maintenance work is not carried out at the planned intervals, so that the light quality suffers due to loss of luminous flux, color locus shift and luminaire failure. In extreme cases, the illuminance can fall to half the plan value, the uniformity also suffers greatly from these consequences.
So the much more sustainable alternative is use LED sports light to replace Metal Halide lamp. It have many benefits such as instant saving on electricity cost and increase of service life.

We can see the electricity cost per year is dropped from $16800 to $8400 (50% reduction). furthermore, our LED sports light have more than 50,000 hours life span, which is around 17 years for using them 8 hours per day. The maintenance cost is minimized after retrofitting the HID lamps to LED.
